Oval squid, Sepioteuthis lessoniana (15 cm)
Green Island, Taiwan

This squid snuck up to Magnus’s camera and “talked” with his underwater strobes for a good 20 minutes. The oval squid is known for its ability to produce complex body patterns immediately after it hatches. The squid talk to each other by quickly changing their body colour, varying their patterns, and even creating different surface structures.
