Rabbit fish, Chimaera monstrosa (130 cm)
Trondheim Fjord, Norway
The mysterious rabbit fish has an impressive front equipped with two shining green eyes like floodlights. It is a cartilaginous fish, a relative of sharks and rays, and is sometimes called a ghost shark. This photo shows the barbed venomous spine attached to its back. Rabbit fish live at between 200 and 1 000 metres deep, but Magnus has found a place where they can be encountered by scuba divers at 10 metres depth.
