Juvenile violet blanket octopus, Tremoctopus violaceus, sometimes called common blanket octopus. It lives worldwide in the epipelagic zone of warm seas. On this image you can see the octopus wearing the stinging tentacles of jellyfish, to whose burning cells they are immune. It is speculated that these tentacles serve both as a defensive mechanism and possibly as a method of capturing prey. Balayan Bay, Luzon Island, Philippines
