Hummingbird bobtail squid, Euprymna berryi (2 cm), Kenting Nationalpark, Taiwan.

The hummingbird bobtail squid moves in a drone-like way, using either its Dumbo-like fins attached to its head or its built-in “jet engine” in reverse gear. The squid can create its own light using a specialised light organ powered by bacteria. When omitting a blue glow it counter-illuminates its silhouette to hide.

On the southern tip of Taiwan with the Pacific Ocean all around the tip with clear water, coral reefs and abundant marine life in.
